So exited about this show! This is what Nathan has been training hard for at Martial mix this week and while there is nothing better than a fight show in general; this on is being co-promoted with Nathan and by the Man behind Big Day out, Summerdayz, Man Power and every other successful promotion in the country and internationally Billy Cross, so you know its going to be a show that gathers fans from all around the country to sit ringside. I can say from experience seeing Nathan fight on Evolution and Explosion that a Carnage crowd of supporters is an awesome experience because they are loud, proud, exited and so pumped to see him fight so being in his home town on a show featuring Nathan is going to be INSANE!

One of the other main events of the night is going to be our own Daniel ‘The Vice’ Smyrk! We already have a group of people who have booked flights to see the show in the Gold Coast April 7th Easter weekend so regardless of what state our fighters are in a cheer squad will always follow Dan. Ranked 5th middleweight in the country under just a few names like….Wayne Parr, Bruce Macfie, Eli Madigan and Franki Gorgi who is also one of the main events of the night so we couldn’t be more proud of Dan and the fighter he has become, he is a true warrior.

Nathan love the training camp when he stayed with us for a few weeks in Feb so much that when he got home a week later he booked a flight back in Feb just 3 weeks later! We are beyond stoked that the 8 time world champ loves Justin’s training and is going to make Martial Mix a regular part of his training schedule throughout the year. He is training hard for his approaching fight in April ‘Total Carnage Promotions’ which is going to the be an awesome show obviously because Nathan is headlining the show but because our own Daniel ‘The Vice’ Smyrk is one of the main events of the night!

We are all so proud of the gym and very lucky to have a head trainer like Justin (especially after seeing the training video Justin did after his knee surgery which dropped jaws around the country in astonishment) but now we have a world class fighter proudly wearing our Jumper and calling it his gym too.

Amy Rogers is one of the Veteran woman Fighters of the sport in Victoria and has two state tiles to back it up the prestigious WMC Victorian State title 60-62kg & IWKF Victorian State Champion 62kg. Amy is notorious for having lead in her hands and feet, incredible strength in the grapple and gives a hard fight to anyone she steps in the ring or trains with at the gym. Amy is one of the few who will train 24/7 – 365 days a year even the Monday after a fight and is driven to train hard every day from her great love of the sport as a lifestyle not just because she has a fight coming up.

Every day she trains she gets better and has not stopped growing as a Martial Artist since she started at the gym in 2007. Amy has been an imperative member of the gym first to help out with classes, fighters and beginners and we are very lucky to have her in the fight team.

Amy has started a woman’s class on Mondays 6:15pm-7:00pm and since day one the class has been full of girls wanting to learn from her extensive knowledge in Muay Thai Kickboxing and fitness. We frequently have members requesting Amy’s classes because of her grueling sessions that give even the fittest members a challenge. This class is casual so $10 to join in and also a great introduction to the sport if your a complete newbie and a little intimidated to start, we guarantee you will love this class and its for all ages, fitness and skill levels.

After Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett came to Martial Mix for a training camp in Jan we had posted some videos of his training and because everyone loved watching them we decided to show Justin’s training footage during his comeback into the sport after a knee injury last year. Justin tore his ACL (Anterior cruciate ligament) along with a torn Meniscus and also tore his hamstring just weeks after his surgery.

Justin is well known in the industry as a fight trainer in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts but not so well known are his skills as a fighter. Just is an amazing talent Muay Thai Kickboxing, he has speed, power and technique rarely found in even the best fighters. We had an overwhelming response to his training footage and we promise to keep it coming.

Thanks for your wonderful comments I couldn’t have been happier that the country got to see why Justin is such a hidden Gem in this sport and why our gym is so lucky.

Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett training at Martial Mix Jan 9th-22nd 2012

Most people are dragging there ass in the gym after Christmas break after all the eating, drinking and slacking off but we are in full swing already this year and we are only in Febuary! Carnage is stayed with us for a couple of weeks to train for an up and coming fight and Justin put him through the usual paces with gas masks, weird plyometric/cross fit inventions that Dan Andy aka ‘Wolverine’ create in their spare time.

Nathan told me how impressed he was with the dedication our members put into their fitness and performance knowing they are not in the sport professionally as fighters; just as very dedicated and motivated group of people. We have posted training Video’s for everyone to see if you missed out seeing him but don’t cry people because he’s coming back soon, I will post dates soon but we are looking at the end of feb. Tina
